Things I never travel without…
Back in the day (insert, pre-2020), I traveled A LOT. I’ve been to 40+ countries and love to explore. After over-packing and under-packing one too many times, I’ve created a refined list of things I do not leave home without.
Flip-flops: for shower shoes, the crusty hotel carpets, beach days, a surprise pool, you name it. My flip-flops always slip into the front pocket of my suitcase.
A small cross-body purse: In my day-to-day, I may not need this, but when traveling it’s a must-have. Sometimes you’re touring for 3 hours or all day. I cannot think of a time traveling when a small, hands-free bag hasn’t come in ideal. You need to be able to fit: wallet, phone, gum, lip gloss, wet-wipes/hand sanitizer, passport, and of course, a kindle (because you might have to wait in lines somewhere without cell service!) My current bag is a 20-year-old leather crossbody from Italy. For travel to third-world countries or places with high crime, I suggest something low-profile like this. Otherwise, the Gucci Soho Disco is a perfect-sized go-to.
NOTICE- the must-have items in my purse:
passport (obviously)
Wallet (or card/cash holder)
gum (popping ears on the airplane!)
kindle
hand sanitizer (I either use alcohol-free wet wipes or home made spray out of Young Living Thieves)
Runners/tennis shoes: I know, you might plan on wearing your cute sandals or boots for those Insta-pics, but let’s be honest, hours of walking= swelling, tired feet. You need shoes you can count on. Plus, working out is a part of any trip! My tip: find shoes you like and that are neutral- to match several outfits.
Flats: Easy to pack and go with anything. Although they won’t leave you quite as cozy as tennis shoes, they go with dresses a tad better. My current go-to’s are my Rothy’s and these Tieks.
My favorite travel jacket- the Lulu Lemon Define Jacket. I only need one and had to replace my old one a couple of years ago- it goes literally everywhere with me. It looks sleek, can be worn to work out or with jeans, has thumb holes to keep warm, and is slim enough to throw in your travel tote.
This list is far from comprehensive, but it’s a start. Feel free to contact me with your travel questions!
