Did you choose your path or did it choose you?
There is work, and then there are careers. Which do you have?
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Thomas Jefferson was a realist, following Aristotle’s teaching on happiness. Aristotle defined happiness as the fulfillment of human potential. Notice- NOT that giddy, feel-good, in-the-moment sensation commonly associated with the word.
If you work, you did one of two things: you pursued a path, or fell into one.
If you fell into one, they key question is: Is it working for you? You may have fallen into the perfect situation- fulfilling work, a salary that compensates well, great benefits, good time off…
Or, you’ve fallen into the humdrum and feel numb and struggle with meaning.
This week’s challenge: Evaluate your work. Set new goals. Are you in the career of your dreams? Look for ways to grow within your field. Do you need a change? Start making a plan!
